A fabulous antique guard chain from the late Victorian era made up of faceted 9ct gold cable links leading to a claw clasp at the bottom.
Guard chains were popular in the 19th Century and were usually adorned with a pocket watch or lorgnette and were long enough to be tucked into a belt.
The chain measures 57 inches in total and can be worn as one long chain as it was back in the day or looped twice around the neck if preferred.
